At first glance, nothing is more subjective than the title of the best phone. After all, each of us wants something different from the smartphone in our pocket. However, through tests and precise measurements, such titles can be awarded by important authorities.
The Mobile World Congress or MWC is the annual technology fair in Barcelona that ended a week ago. This is a project of the GSMA organization, the same one that has just announced the winner of the title of the best phone launched in the last year. The winner was selected from among several other important award categories presented at the end of the annual conference in the Spanish city.
The iPhone 14 Pro, the best phone
If you’re wondering what to buy and you don’t necessarily have a preference that limits you in terms of models, GSMA officials have concluded that the iPhone 14 Pro is the best phone of the moment, even though it was launched last fall. As a reference, this is one of the top models of the Cupertino giant, with a very generous price tag.
In the final stretch, the same distinction was also contested by the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, and Galaxy Z Fold4. The main criteria for differentiation were performance and innovation. It is important to note that the authority did not feel the need to include any models from the Galaxy S23 series, which has recently been made available to users. Also, no Chinese-origin creation was included in the top.
Apple has won another extremely important award from the GSMA, in the same context. This is the Disruptive Device Innovation award, for the emergency SOS function via satellite. The strangest detail in all of these circumstances is that Apple enjoys these distinctions following a fair that it has never participated in and has shown no interest in doing so.
